Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
